Ever Wonder ????

You see a great play during a hockey game and say …. man, that was trick, how did he do that?

Well, here’s something interesting you might not know!

2014 Olympic Men’s Hockey Team

The no look shot Drew Doughty scored as Canada’s first goal had us wondering whether Drew Doughty ever played lacrosse. A right handed shot defensemen scoring with no look shot from the left side of the ice. That can’t be a coincidence.

Sure enough, Drew played minor lacrosse in London, Ontario. So, we have David Bolland (a former Mimico lacrosse star) scoring a Stanley Cup winning goal and Drew Doughty scoring the only goals for Team Canada in a big game against the Finns. Both were lacrosse players.

Perhaps the brain trust at Hockey Canada should start promoting box lacrosse instead of hockey 365 days per year.

Kelowna Minor Lacrosse is pleased to announce we are continuing with the BCLA standard on-line registration and payment system, which is now available for the 2014 Box lacrosse registration!

On-line registration now OPEN through to February 28 2014. Please register before February 28 to avoid wait listing and/or the risk that we may not be able to place your child on a team. To go straight to registration without reviewing details, use this link!

The Kelowna Kodiaks captured the Silver Medal in the Bantam C Lacrosse Championship in Burnaby on Sunday, July 29th 2012. Throughout their Provincial run, the team played with heart, dedication and sportsmanship.

Formed at the end of June, the 14 player roster led by Captain Mathew Alcorn, Assistant Captains, Tanner Gale and Lucas de Vries, the Kodiaks won two of the three round robin games and won their cross over game to earn a berth in the finals. A 6 – 1 round robin win over Burnaby Lakers launched the Kodiaks on their winning ways in the Provincial Tournament, followed by defeating Langley Thunder 8 – 0, going into a tough game against the Campbell River Ravens, taking a loss of 7 – 5 which placed the Kodiaks in second position in their pool. The Kodiaks then faced the Cranbrook Outlaws, who they defeated 11 – 8. This sent the Kodiaks to once more face the Campbell River Ravens, this time for the Gold medal in the Championship game at Bill Copeland Arena. The Kodiaks came out strong with a two goal lead over the Campbell River. Campbell River closed the gap during the game, with both teams drawing even at 5 in the third period. With 05:30 minutes left in the third period, the Kodiaks’ starting goalie, Hunter McSeveney went down while stopping a shot from Campbell River. The game was stopped while alternate goalie, Joshua DuBrett took to the net for the Kodiaks. Campbell River scored the winning goal in the final few minutes, to steal the Gold.

The Kelowna Kodiaks Bantam C Team was under the lead of Head Coach Randy Gale accompanied by bench staff, Darin de Vries, Rod Torres and Team Manager Susan Gale. Kelowna Minor Lacrosse congratulates the Bantam C team on their terrific accomplishment.
