Kelowna Tykes have Big Season - Jean Andre Tournament Success!

This past weekend, Head Coach Ryan Wickert and Assistant Coach Matthew Wickert led a Kelowna Tyke team on a very memorable trip to Coquitlam for the first lacrosse tournament any of the kids had ever participated in. This wasn’t just “any” tournament either, but the Jean Andre tournament/jamboree. The Jean Andrew Tyke tournament was hosted by Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse, and saw 20 Tyke teams take part in what was billed as the largest Tyke lacrosse tournament in Western Canada.

After having proudly marched into the arena with the Kelowna Minor lacrosse Kodiaks banner for the opening ceremonies on Friday night June 21, the team went undefeated, besting Port Moody 8-2, and defeating the host Coquitlam Adanacs Tyke teams 7-1 and 3-0. Opposing coaches complimented the Kelowna Kodiaks on their tenacity, commitment to defense, and team speed.

This caps off a 13-2 record for the team this year (incld. no more than 2 goals being scored against the team in any single game). Well done to Coach Ryan/Matthew Wickert.

We know that this means we’ll be hearing more accomplishments coming from the 2005/2006 cohort of Kelowna Kodiaks lacrosse players in the future. Congratulations to the players, their coaches, and families!!
